2025 LOB OFF Recap: Biggest Year Yet

Just last Saturday October 18th we held our 14th annual URT LOB OFF at Garbage Beach in Point Loma.  This is our yearly freedive lobster grab competition in Point Loma’s reef structures to kick off the lobster season.  Divers had an hour and a half to catch as many legal bugs as possible.  Lobsters were then taken to the weighing table to see how big their bugs were.

We had sunny weather and relatively good conditions to welcome 45 divers… the most competitors in the history of the event!  After the allotted time of 1 and a half hours 17 lobsters were caught by 13 people.  Here were the final results:

1ST PLACE: Allan Fenton : 3 lobsters (533g, 767g, 526g, for a total 1,826g)

2ND PLACE: Mark Arthurs: 2 lobsters (772 g and 865g, for total 1,637g)

3RD PLACE: Al Hansen: 2 lobsters: (819g, and 624g, for a total 1,443g)
