It is almost that time of the year again… the Celebration of Life of one of our favorite people Charlie Keating IV. We dedicate a whole weekend in honor of Chuck starting with his paddle out and leading to the URT DIG. The Live Heavy Weekend will be May 10-11 with a list of events as followed:
May 10 @ 10AM: Paddle Out at Coronado South Beach* followed by drinks at McP’s Irish Pub in Coronado
*1800 Avenida Del Sol Coronado, CA (change from last year so bring a wetsuit!)
May 11 @ 2PM: URT DIG hole digging competition at Coronado Dog Beach
A little bit about Charlie: Chief Special Warfare Officer Charles H. Keating was our dear friend we remember surfing at North Beach in Coronado with and then grabbing a beer to recap the day. He always had a positive spirit and was kind to everyone he met… the Aloha Warrior truly is his other name. Sadly, while deployed to Iraq on May 3, 2016 he was killed in action defending an attempt by over 200 ISIS terrorists to break through Kurdish lines to reach the Mosul Dam. Everything changed that day for our community back home in Coronado as we embraced a fallen brother and a family grieving an unthinkable loss. One year after his death the C4 family formed the C4 Foundation in his honor to deliver neuroscience based programs to help strengthen Navy SEALs and their families. URT started making all the merch for the foundation and still does to this day!
URT DIG deets: The URT DIG will take place on Sunday May 11th in Coronado, CA Dog Beach. We know this day is also Mother’s Day so all moms dig for free!
Diggers will each have 10 minutes to dig a hole as deep as they can. Holes will be immediately measured and the winners will be announced upon conclusion of all three digging divisions. The man himself, Jonathan Wayne Freeman @jonathanwaynefreeman, will be the MC.
Check in for the event is at 2PM followed by these three Digvisions.

Did you know? Charlie won the URT Dig in 2013 and was runner up in 2014 in the Metal Digvision. His winning golden shovel adorns the walls of one of Coronado's more anonymous watering holes. This rich history reminds us what the "Live Heavy Weekend" is all about.
